Rogue leveling Guide – The Journey Begins

The simplest way to breeze through the early levels is to complete any and all quests you encounter. Not alone will you glide through the first 5 to 10 levels, but you’ll gather useful gear and all important money. Money is king when trying to improve Rogue Abilities.

The first 1 to 5 levels will be spent in your town. Make sure you get all the rogue abilities you can from your trainer. Between level 5 and 6 you’ll be traveling to your second town and a new trainer who can teach some cool new tricks. At the second town, repeat the process – complete any quest you can find. It’s vital to keep up with your abilities and your gear. This also the perfect time to start training in your chosen profession.

Now its going to be next to impossible to lay out every step for you here, but i will get you up and runing. You could try something like Zygors guide if you want something more in depth.

Levels 1-3

Rogues start out with Eviscerate, Sinister Strike and Throw. With 10 copper pieces, you can purchase Stealth.

If necessary, use throw to get a mobs attention.

Levels 4-5

When you reach level 4 you can learn Backstab (1sp/friendly 95cp) and Pick Pocket (1sp/friendly 95cp). Before getting in a tangle with an aggro enemy, enter stealth and try to pick pocket the target. Following that, open with Backstab and Sinister strike for combo points. Then use Eviscerate to finish them off.

You do not need to be in stealth to use Backstab. If you have joined a group and someone else has aggro you can get behind them and use Backstab.

Levels 6-10

Upon reaching level 6 upgrade Sinister Strike to rank 2 (1sp / friendly 95cp) and learn Gouge. Begin your attack with Backstab, then use Gouge, get behind the target, and use Backstab again. Then finish them off with Eviscerate. Sinister Strike can also be used before Gouge for an extra combo point.

Upgrade Eviscerate to rank 2 at level 8 (2sp / friendly 1sp 90cp). Learn Evasion, use it when retreating or when faced with multiple mobs.

Levels 10-70

-Weapon Choice- (Consider Specialization as well)

-Sword- Sustained PvE: very Slice-and-Dice and Attack-Power-dependent due to Sword proc. Sustained PvP: Hemorrhage or Sinister Strike, each hit hard, and depend on spec.

-Dagger- Burst PvE: Assassination rogues depend mainly upon Mutilate. Subtlety rogues make heavy use of Backstab. Burst PvP: The most prevalent PvP weapon is daggers. Subtlety and Assassination specs have a reputation for being great for PvP.

-Fist- Sustained/Burst PvE: very crit-rate dependent, you will rely on Agility much more than a sword rogue in raids. Burst/Sustained PvP: larger crits than normal regardless of position due to Fist Specialization and Malice.

-Caution Combat rogues- Don”t mix and match weapon specializations, it’s a huge drain on your talent points and should be avoided.

-Mace- PvE: Can be ineffective against mobs’ due to their armor working differently than players’. Sustained PvP: Varies due to the diminishing returns of armor.

-Key cp = copper pieces, sp = silver pieces, gp = gold pieces.

Rogue Leveling Strategy

This guide is designed to provide a general overview of the World of Warcraft Rogue Class. For more in-depth knowledge on the fastest way to level a Rogue check out this world beating Rogue Guide.

Introduction To Rogue Leveling

In WoW there is one character that is head and shoulders above the rest at melee DPS. That has to be the Rogue. Sure, it may seem like there only skill is raining down death on monsters and hitting things hard. But there is more to the Rogue class than meets the eye. Rogues, like Hunters can have really easy time leveling if done correctly. So with that lets take a look into the Rogue class basics.

Starting Out

Rogues are pure melee DPS class. They don’t mess around casting spells or slinging bullets. Even as a melee DPS they don’t charge around with huge swords cutting swathes through enemies. Instead, they have a more refined method of combat, concentrating on the smaller weapons like axes, maces and daggers while using their stealth and guile to move around unseen.

  • Rogues can inflict huge damage with dual weapons.

  • Poisons can be used to increase DPS and utility with no expense.

  • DPS leather can be easily obtained, with the only competition being Druids.

  • Rogues consume Energy instead of Mana, Rage, or other forms of resource.

  • Energy constantly refills, meaning that downtime is only dependent on your health.

  • Rogues wield dual weapons. There are no two-handed weapons for Rogues.

  • Rogues ability to kill things fast can make leveling much easier.

As I’m sure you know, there are thousands of quests in WoW and about a billion monsters to slay not counting the other players. Keeping tabs on all those quests, researching the details whilst trying to figure out where to go and what to do can become a real pain in the ass.

To keep everything in check and level fast and easily, I have been utilizing Zygors Guides. Zygor’s brings a level of automation to Warcraft guides never seen before. But not by playing the game for you, but by pointing you in the right direction, showing you what to do and presenting all the information you need to complete a quest.

“Don’t think, just play”,  Zygor’s automatic quest detection which will check off each instruction as it’s completed and will automatically advance to the next step when all goals have been met .You’ll never need to look at you quest log again. Power leveling to 80 in under 10 days is a piece of cake and if your fast you may be able to make it in 7.
